Patrick Alles grew up in Portland, Oregon with a passion to find a profession where he could combine creativity with service to others. After finishing an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry, Patrick spent two years teaching science at an underserved high school in Nebraska, before finding his desire for service and creativity in the field of architecture.

Patrick Alles graduated from Notre Dame’s classical School of Architecture with a master’s in architecture in 2015 and began his architectural career in New York City at some of the leading traditional firms in the world, including Robert A.M. Stern Architects. During this time, Patrick gained valuable experience at the highest and most demanding level, with a particular focus on educational and hospitality buildings.

Patrick eventually settled in Boise, Idaho, with his wife and two children and founded Patrick Alles Architecture LLC (PAA) in 2021 - the state’s first traditionally focused architecture firm since World War II, with a mission to revive the best lessons of the great western architectural tradition in Idaho and the Mountain West.

Patrick brings his extensive knowledge of traditional architecture from both his training at Notre Dame, and his mentorship under the top traditional architects in the world, to bear on every project. Buildings grounded in this knowledge enjoy the benefits of over hundreds of years of accumulated architectural wisdom, including traditional planning, proportioning, and classical detailing unique in the architectural profession today. This philosophy, combined with Patrick’s rigorous knowledge of contemporary construction, ensures that PAA provides clients with a comprehensive approach to architecture which values buildings not merely as machines to facilitate human activity, but as spaces to elevate, honor and ennoble the human person.

PAA has a special focus in educational, hospitality, residential and liturgical architecture. His work has been featured by the Institute of Classical Architecture and Art (ICAA), and the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and is a licensed architect in Idaho and Wyoming.
